Magadh University (MU) administration has suspended Shivji Pandey, an assistant professor in the Sanskrit department at Gaya College. The decision, issued by acting vice-chancellor Dilip Kumar Keshari, followed a viral video depicting alleged misbehavior by Pandey towards a female colleague.
The woman teacher, who has worked in the department for seven years, filed a complaint with Rampur police station on Wednesday. She accused Pandey of harassment, mental torture, verbal abuse, and physical assault. The university formed a high-level committee to investigate the matter after the video circulated widely on social media, attracting attention from higher authorities.
Based on the committee's findings and recommendations, the suspension order was issued. Pandey has been reassigned to ANS College in Nabinagar, Aurangabad, during this period. His salary will be subject to verification of his work experience after the suspension.
