Gauhati University's 8-day Varsity Week 2026 has successfully concluded, emphasizing the institution's commitment to holistic education and comprehensive student development. The event successfully brought together students from various disciplines, fostering an environment of camaraderie, achievement, and collective pride.
Varsity Week 2026 hosted more than 100 competitions, spanning sports, literature, music, fine arts, and theatre. These events, ranging from quizzes and debates to athletics and cultural performances, aimed to build student confidence, discipline, and leadership skills. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted these competitions as a fuller expression of education.
The festivities also included a dedicated music competition that paid tribute to the popular artist late Zubeen Garg, drawing strong participation and adding a memorable touch. A grand Cultural Procession, featuring Assamese singer Dipanwita Deka, further enriched the celebrations by highlighting the diverse cultural tapestry of Assam and the Northeast through language, arts, cinema, and sports.
