A 16-year-old girl identified as Janvi died after jumping from the third floor of Navodaya Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School in Faridabad. Her father, Pramod Kumar, stated that Janvi was punished for eating biryani and made to stand outside the classroom. CCTV footage reportedly shows her entering the vice-principal's room and remaining there for nearly two hours before jumping.
Kumar expressed disbelief at the punishment duration and questioned the school's actions, noting the school did not contact him immediately. He accused the school of delaying notification and leaving the hospital without meeting the family. The school principal, RK Sharma, claimed Janvi went to the washroom, a statement Kumar refuted.
An investigation is underway, with police stating they found no suspicious activity in the CCTV footage. However, a fellow parent alleged the school has a history of harsh punishments. Janvi's father is demanding a thorough investigation and a post-mortem examination at AIIMS.
