West Texas Students Explore Energy Careers at Tech

Nearly 30 high school students from across West Texas recently gained valuable STEM experience at the ExxonMobil STEM Camp, held at Texas Tech University. The one-day event immersed participants in the energy industry's science and technology. Students worked with university peers to construct functioning reservoir models and explored advancements in carbon capture and storage.

Participants applied engineering principles and utilized laboratory equipment to measure carbon dioxide. The camp, designed for students in grades 9-12, also introduced them to college life and academic paths in STEM fields. Developed with curriculum from Rice University's Tapia Center, the program connected students with current university attendees, offering insights into higher education and future careers.
