A national responsibility to secure the future of children with developmental delays has been emphasized by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar. He spoke at the inauguration of the Cross Disability Early Intervention Centre (CDEIC) in Noida.
The CDEIC at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) will offer holistic, multi-disciplinary services. These include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, medical consultation, special education, family counselling, and school-readiness interventions.
Dr. Kumar highlighted that the first six years of a child's life are crucial for brain development and future outcomes. He directed the Noida centre to become a model of excellence, focusing on quality infrastructure, advanced technology, skilled professionals, and evidence-based practices.
