These significant sites, including railway stations, schools, and colleges, continue to stand with much of their original character intact.
Old Delhi Railway Station, originally Delhi Junction and opened in 1864, is one such landmark, with its present building dating to 1903. This station is historically noted as the first place Mahatma Gandhi deboarded in Delhi in April 1915 upon his return to India. Shahdara Railway Station also holds significance as the location of Gandhi's final rail journey termination on September 9, 1947.
Educational institutions also feature prominently in this heritage inventory. Zakir Husain Delhi College's history extends back to 1792, originally as Delhi College. The Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College in Karol Bagh, founded by Hakim Ajmal Khan, began as Madrassa-e-Tibia in 1883, with its main building inaugurated in 1921.
