CUET PG Exam: No Normalization, Absolute Marks System Confirmed
13 Jun
Summary
- 565 CUET PG candidates were rescheduled due to disruptions.
- NTA confirms CUET PG uses absolute marks, not normalization.
- Rescheduled papers maintained difficulty levels, experts confirmed.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has addressed concerns regarding the rescheduling of 565 CUET PG 2026 candidates. These candidates were unable to appear for their exams on the original dates in March 2026 due to disruptions at overseas centers and law-and-order issues in Tura, Meghalaya.
NTA confirmed that these 565 candidates were rescheduled for March 29 and 30, 2026, as a welfare measure. The agency emphasized that the CUET (PG) uses a system of absolute marks, meaning scores are calculated directly from performance without any normalization. This evaluation method remained consistent for all candidates.
Regarding concerns about fairness, NTA explained that applying normalization between the main and rescheduled exam groups would be statistically invalid due to significant differences in candidate numbers. The agency also confirmed that rescheduled question papers were prepared by subject experts to match the difficulty level of the main examination papers.
