CBSE Portal Glitch: Fees Skyrocket During Re-evaluation
25 May
Summary
- Abnormal fee amounts appeared on the CBSE portal for answer sheet photocopies.
- Fees dramatically increased from a few rupees to tens of thousands.
- Union Education Minister Pradhan has requested a report on the glitches.

During the recent CBSE re-evaluation application period, students encountered significant technical difficulties. Many reported encountering abnormal and drastically fluctuating fee amounts when attempting to apply for photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets. Initially set at Rs 100 per subject, the displayed fees on the board's portal reportedly escalated to exorbitant figures, with some instances showing charges of Rs 8,000, Rs 67,000, and even Rs 69,420 within hours.
These alarming discrepancies led students and parents to question the portal's security and integrity, suspecting either a technical glitch or a potential compromise. The fluctuating fee structure significantly hindered smooth application submissions. In response to the widespread complaints and technical issues, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has called for a comprehensive report from the CBSE, demanding explanations for the glitches, the measures in place, and the accountability of the involved agencies.
As a measure to accommodate affected students, the CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta announced an extension of the re-evaluation application deadline by one day, moving it from May 23 to May 24. This decision aimed to provide students with additional time to complete their applications amidst the ongoing technical challenges.
