CBSE to Hold Dual Class 10 Exams Annually Starting 2026

On 24 September 2025, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a tentative datesheet for the 2026 board examinations, 146 days before the start of the exams. This is the first time CBSE has taken this proactive step, aiming to help students, schools, and other stakeholders make their preparations well in advance.
According to the official notice, CBSE has now finalized the datesheet for the 2026 board exams, which are scheduled to commence on 17 February 2026. This is in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which calls for the implementation of two Class 10 examinations per academic year.
CBSE stated that the decision to release the datesheet 110 days prior to the start of the exams was made based on the registration data of Class IX and Class XI students. This early announcement is expected to benefit all stakeholders by giving them ample time to plan and prepare for the upcoming examinations.
