Summary
- CBSE Class 12 results expected between May 11-17, 2026.
- New OSM system speeds up evaluation from 12 to nine days.
- Students need 33% to pass; grace marks available if needed.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to announce Class 12 results for over 1.8 million students soon. Following trends from previous years, the results are anticipated between May 11 and May 17, 2026, with past declarations often occurring around May 12 or 13. This year, the introduction of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system is expected to accelerate the process.
This OSM system involves teachers evaluating scanned answer sheets digitally, aiming to shorten the evaluation period from about 12 days to nearly nine. This digital method enhances accuracy and speeds up the release of results, while the marking scheme and criteria remain unchanged. To pass, students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks.
Furthermore, the CBSE guidelines allow for grace marks to assist students who are slightly below the passing threshold or if a paper is deemed unusually difficult or contains out-of-syllabus questions. Grades are awarded in tiers from A1 (top 1/8th) down to D2, with E indicating failure.
