- Over 43 lakh students are currently appearing for CBSE board exams.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations are underway, entering their fourth day on February 20, 2026. Today's schedule includes the Class 12 Physics paper and six Class 10 subjects, such as Data Science and Beauty and Wellness, all conducted in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Across India, a total of over 43 lakh students are appearing for these crucial exams. This includes approximately 25 lakh students in Class 10 and 18.5 lakh in Class 12. Examinations are being held at numerous centers, with Class 10 exams concluding on March 10 and Class 12 exams on April 10.
CBSE has also issued a significant clarification regarding the 2026 Class 10 board examinations. Students must appear for the first board exam. Those who are eligible can aim to improve their scores in up to three subjects, including core subjects like Mathematics and Science.
Students failing to appear for three or more subjects in the first attempt will be placed in the 'Essential Repeat' category and will need to retake exams next year. Those with a 'Compartment' result can appear in the subsequent exam under that category. Importantly, students cannot opt for additional subjects after passing Class 10.
