Boise State University announced that its downtown Bronco Shop will close its doors permanently this coming Saturday. The nonprofit retail outlet, situated in the Clearwater Building at City Center Plaza, has served students and fans by offering Boise State merchandise, souvenirs, and course materials.
The university intends to merge the downtown store's operations with its primary bookstore located in the Student Union Building on the main campus. This consolidation is driven by a strategic decision to streamline operations, cut down on overhead expenses, and ensure that more revenue generated from the bookstore directly supports student scholarships.
Boise State reported record-breaking sales for its university bookstore in fiscal year 2025, and this move is seen as a way to further enhance financial benefits for students. The Clearwater Building also houses Boise State's computer science department.
