L N Mithila University (LNMU) in Darbhanga has appointed professors-in-charge for 30 newly constituted government degree colleges, as announced on Tuesday evening. This strategic move aims to ensure the seamless operation of these institutions as the new academic session approaches.
The appointments involve principals from existing colleges, along with professors-in-charge and senior teachers up to the associate professor rank. These individuals will assume leadership roles in the new colleges in addition to their current responsibilities.
Out of the 30 colleges, Begusarai district hosts ten, Darbhanga has eight, Madhubani seven, and Samastipur five. These colleges were established following a state government resolution on April 30, aligning with the 'Saat Nischay' program's goal to set up government degree colleges in 208 blocks across Bihar.
For the upcoming session, six subjects will be offered: Hindi, English, history, economics, political science, and sociology. Pending the development of permanent infrastructure, classes will be held at nearby +2 government schools. In response to growing faculty needs, LNMU has also expanded vacancies for guest teachers in these subjects.
