Bengaluru Traffic Alert: IISc Open Day Clogs CV Raman Road
6 Mar
Summary
- IISc Open Day on Saturday will cause significant traffic disruptions.
- Visitors are advised to use public transport due to expected large crowds.
- Road closures are also in effect for a separate road safety event.

Motorists in Bengaluru are alerted to major traffic disruptions expected on Saturday, March 8, 2026. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is hosting its annual Open Day programme, anticipated to draw between 60,000 and 80,000 visitors. This influx will lead to an expected presence of 150-200 buses, 650-700 cars, and a substantial number of two-wheelers, significantly impacting traffic flow, particularly on CV Raman Road.
To manage the expected rush, traffic police are strongly advising visitors to opt for public transportation. Designated parking areas have been arranged within Palace Grounds for four-wheelers, with shuttle services to the venue. Two-wheelers will be directed to park at the IISc Gymkhana Ground. Commuters traveling between Yeshwantpur and Ballari Road are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid CV Raman Road.
In addition to the IISc event, a separate road safety awareness program, the '5K Safe-A-Thon,' will also cause traffic restrictions. Movement will be prohibited on Kasturba Road from 7am to 10am on Saturday. This event, featuring a bike rally, cycle rally, walkathon, and marathon, will commence and conclude at Kanteerava Stadium, affecting several major city roads.
