A significant academic initiative has been realized at Rani Channamma University with the establishment of a dedicated Basava Studies Chair. This fulfills a long-standing demand from representatives of the Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha and various Basava organizations.
The newly established chair is intended to foster academic research and deeper study into the philosophy, teachings, and life of the revered 12th-century social reformer, Basavanna. His contributions to promoting equality and progressive social reforms are widely recognized.
Organizations, led by figures like SM Jamadar and Basavaraj Rotti, had submitted a memorandum nearly two years prior, urging the university to create this academic center. The delegation extended their sincere thanks to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tyagaraj, Registrar Santosh Kamagouda, and Syndicate member Mahanthesh Kambar for their instrumental role in bringing this proposal to fruition.
