Baroness Rennie Fritchie, a life peer and former member of the House of Lords, died on Thursday at the age of 83. She was widely remembered as a kind and caring person who made a substantial difference.
Baroness Fritchie held the position of chancellor at the University of Gloucestershire for a decade, from 2012 to 2022. Her early life included attending Gloucester's Ribston Hall High School and later becoming involved with the Pied Piper Appeal in 1992.
Her career, described as a "mosaic," began with her work in the 1970s as a full-time training adviser focused on women's development. She established her own training consultancy and held numerous senior leadership roles across public and private sectors.
She was instrumental in establishing Winston's Wish, served as a trustee for Longfield Hospice, and was a charity ambassador for Age UK Gloucestershire. Baroness Fritchie also chaired the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and sat on the board of the Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation.
