Brothers Commissioned Together in Army Milestone
6 Mar
Summary
- Two brothers will be commissioned into the Army on the same day.
- One brother transitioned from a computer science engineer role.
- Both brothers represent the third generation of soldiers in their family.

On March 7, the Indian Army will celebrate a remarkable dual commissioning as brothers Deepak Kumar Mishra and Krishna Kumar Mishra, both from Ballia, are inducted into service on the same day. Deepak will graduate from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya, while his younger brother, Krishna, will be commissioned from OTA in Chennai.
Deepak's journey to this achievement was unconventional. After earning a Master's degree in computer science, he spent over three years as a network operating centre engineer in the corporate sector. Despite a secure career, he felt a strong calling towards uniformed service, a path that demanded significant personal transformation.
His transition to military training at OTA Gaya involved overcoming challenges related to physical fitness and stamina. Through consistent effort and dedication, Deepak successfully met the rigorous physical and academic standards, reshaping himself physically and mentally to become a poised officer cadet.
This dual commissioning highlights a strong family tradition of military service. Deepak and Krishna are the third generation of soldiers in their lineage. Their grandfather and father both served for nearly 30 years in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), retiring with the honorary rank of Subedar Major, underscoring a legacy of dedication.
