Yoga is set to be integrated into the daily curriculum of 935 PM SHRI schools throughout Andhra Pradesh. To facilitate this, the state government is currently training 1,870 teachers in various yoga practices. This initiative is designed to promote not only physical fitness but also mental and emotional well-being among students.
The training program, a three-day residential event held in Hyderabad, focuses on practical yoga techniques including warm-ups, Surya Namaskar, asanas, pranayama, and meditation. This aligns with the guidelines set by the Union Ministry of Ayush.
Upon completion, these teachers will serve as "Lead Teacher for Yoga" in their respective schools. Their role will be crucial in embedding yoga into students' daily routines, fostering a joyful learning atmosphere in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Furthermore, teachers will be trained to digitally document yoga sessions and related activities, such as International Yoga Day. Certificates will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the comprehensive training.
