Anniston is set to provide dozens of local students with a day of discovery and inspiration through a Juneteenth educational field trip to Atlanta. Scheduled for July 2, this excursion is open to students in grades 6 through 12.
The daylong experience is designed to merge cultural education with an introduction to historically Black colleges and universities. Participants will have the opportunity to visit Spelman College, Morehouse College, and the APEX Museum. This initiative aims to celebrate Black history and heritage in conjunction with the city's Juneteenth observance.
The trip, costing $15 per student, is limited to 45 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The city is actively seeking sponsorships from local churches, businesses, and organizations to enable more students to attend. Departure is set for 7 a.m. from the City Meeting Center, with an expected return around 5 p.m.
