The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has initiated 'Active CISCE,' a nationwide program designed to address growing concerns about teenage inactivity and obesity. This comprehensive initiative aims to assess the physical fitness of all students from Classes 1 to 12, with a focus on recommending suitable activities for those falling below fitness benchmarks.
In the Uttar Pradesh region, the program has seen significant participation, with 84.97% of the 5,95,584 registered students completing their physical health and fitness assessments. A total of 498 out of 523 schools in UP have registered for the initiative. To further bolster its implementation, CISCE is organizing workshops for coaches, physical education teachers, and coordinators in Lucknow on July 4th.
Launched on July 15 last year, 'Active CISCE' has already engaged over 3.12 million students across more than 3,274 affiliated schools. Nationally, 93.34% of students completed their assessments by April 30, 2026. The upcoming workshops aim to orient participants on the program's objectives, assessment modules, and best practices, fostering a culture of fitness and holistic student development. Key objectives include creating fitness awareness, identifying sports talent, and building national health benchmarks.
