20,500 Candidates Shortlisted for West Bengal Teaching Jobs
15 Nov, 2025
Summary
- 20,500 candidates qualified for interviews to fill 12,445 teaching posts in West Bengal
- Interviews to be held based on written test scores, teaching experience, and eligibility
- Most 'untainted' candidates from 2016 test included in the interview list

On November 15, 2025, the West Bengal School Service Commission announced the interview list for 20,500 candidates who qualified in the recent teacher recruitment test for classes 11 and 12 in state-run and state-aided higher secondary schools. The test was held on September 14, 2025, across 478 centers for 35 subjects.
The interview list has been prepared based on three criteria: the candidates' performance in the written test (60 marks), their teaching experience (10 marks), and eligibility (10 marks). The interviews will follow a 1:1.6 ratio, meaning that for every 100 posts in each subject, 160 candidates will be called.
Notably, most of the 'untainted' candidates from the 2016 test, among the 26,000 whose jobs were invalidated following a Supreme Court order on April 3, 2025, have been included in the current interview list to fill the 12,445 vacant teaching posts for classes 11-12.
The verification process before the interviews is scheduled to begin on November 18, 2025. The West Bengal School Service Commission aims to complete the recruitment process and fill the vacancies in the state's higher secondary schools.
