- 804 professor posts sanctioned, 259 remain vacant.
- Minister urges focus on filling super-specialty vacancies.

In a significant move for medical education, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has sanctioned the promotions of 118 associate professors. These promotions are intended to fill existing vacancies for professor roles across teaching hospitals and government medical colleges.
The state has a total of 804 sanctioned professor positions. Currently, 259 of these are unfilled, with shortages spread across clinical, non-clinical, and super-specialty departments. The recent promotions help address these gaps.
Specifically, 81 clinical department vacancies were filled, alongside 35 in non-clinical areas. However, the minister expressed concern over the 100 vacant professor posts in super-specialty departments, urging a focused approach to recruitment.
