6 Aug
Summary
- A young mum died unexpectedly after going for a daytime nap.
- Her teenage son and a neighbor attempted CPR until paramedics arrived.
- A fundraiser is underway to support her three children and provide a proper funeral.

A vibrant mother of three, Sophie Whitehurst, was found unresponsive at her home in Stoke-on-Trent after taking a midday nap. The 33-year-old, described as 'beautiful' and 'the life of the party,' leaves behind her children, including a baby and two teenagers.
Her son, Connor, discovered her not breathing and immediately began CPR while her neighbor, Sophia Berrow, a veterinary nurse trainee, also provided assistance. Despite 48 minutes of resuscitation efforts by bystanders and paramedics, Sophie was pronounced dead.
Sophie suffered from epilepsy, and while her dog was trained to alert others to seizures, it was not in the room with her at the time. Neighbor Sophia Berrow has initiated a GoFundMe to ensure Sophie receives a fitting funeral and to support her children.
The fundraiser aims to cover funeral expenses and provide for the children, reflecting Sophie's dedication to her family. The community has shown significant support, with over £4,700 raised towards their £7,000 goal.
