Tragic First Holiday Ends in Death for Young Man
19 Feb
Summary
- A 21-year-old died in Benidorm on his first lads' holiday.
- Cocaine, MDMA, and alcohol were found in his system.
- His death was ruled a drug-related cardiac arrest.

A 21-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil passed away on the evening of July 16, 2024, mere hours into his first lads' holiday in Benidorm. Harvey Dominy was discovered on the floor of his hotel room after consuming alcohol, cocaine, and MDMA with friends.
An inquest heard that Mr. Dominy began to feel unwell, subsequently experiencing vomiting and difficulty breathing before collapsing. Friends attempted to raise the alarm, but faced challenges including a broken lift and unfamiliarity with emergency numbers.
Spanish police estimated his time of death between 9pm and 10:30pm. Emergency services arrived later, confirming no vital signs. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death as cardiac respiratory arrest, attributed to an acute reaction to psychoactive substances.
Coroner Kerrie Burge acknowledged inconsistencies in witness accounts, potentially due to the influence of drugs and alcohol. She formally recorded Mr. Dominy's death as drug-related, expressing condolences to his family, who noted his recent grief over their mother's passing.
