18 Aug
Summary
- Nineteen flood posts are operational with 24/7 monitoring.
- Repairs to Yamuna and Hindon embankments were recently completed.
- Seven rural flood committees are coordinating local emergency responses.

In response to swelling Yamuna river waters, Noida and Ghaziabad administrations have established 19 flood posts. These locations feature round-the-clock monitoring systems and rapid-response teams are on alert. As of August 14, the upstream gauge at Okhla had risen to 201.35 meters, exceeding the danger level of 200.6 meters. The barrage was discharging 21,775 cusecs of water, but officials indicated the situation was under control with no immediate flooding anticipated.
Recent repairs to the Yamuna and Hindon embankments have been completed. The district administration has set up flood posts across vulnerable areas, with two specifically managed by the irrigation department. To enhance local emergency coordination, seven rural flood committees have been formed. Officials from irrigation, health, and police departments have been directed to ensure sufficient manpower, rescue equipment, and relief materials are prepositioned.
Emergency supplies such as split stones and cement bags are stockpiled in vulnerable zones. Flood control rooms at Okhla Barrage and in Ghaziabad are operating continuously, with staff monitoring river gauges and reporting any significant water level increases. The Hindon river is also under close observation; its upstream level at Ghaziabad was below the danger mark. Preparations in Ghaziabad include readiness for immediate response to sudden water level rises, emphasizing constant surveillance and ensuring no settlement is left unattended.
