A construction worker, Cheena Kumar, 33, has made a remarkable recovery after surviving a fall from the 7th floor of a site in Ambernath. The incident on July 28 resulted in an iron reinforcement rod piercing his body, passing through his pelvis and lower abdomen. He sustained a severe open fracture, extensive soft-tissue injuries, and hemorrhagic shock.
Doctors at Fortis Hospital, Kalyan, performed emergency surgery after scans revealed the rod had perforated his small intestine at multiple points and narrowly missed vital organs and blood vessels. Kumar's blood pressure was critically low, necessitating immediate intervention. The rod was removed, intestinal injuries repaired, and wounds cleaned.
Remarkably, Kumar recovered without infection and was discharged after approximately one week. He has since returned to his family in Uttar Pradesh. Although still requiring support to walk, he expresses profound gratitude to the medical team for saving his life and is currently focused on his rehabilitation.
