A recent fire at a lumbermill northeast of Kalispell has left one employee, Aaron Walker, critically injured and prompted a swift community response. An online fundraiser initiated shortly after the Dec. 30 blaze has already gathered around $9,000, highlighting the urgent need for support.
Walker, who resided on the company’s property, suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation. He lost his RV home and car, and his cat, Tokers, has been missing since the incident. The company is assisting with securing long-term housing, and local groups are offering aid.
Over a dozen fire departments battled the extensive conflagration, which was contained on Wednesday afternoon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Walker is currently under 24-hour observation, with recovery expected to be a long and challenging process.
