Young woman survives horrific crash, faces uncertain future

A young woman, 23, from Powys, Wales, is beginning a long and uncertain road to recovery following a severe road traffic collision that occurred on July 13th. The incident resulted in devastating injuries, including a pelvis fractured in nine places, a shattered femur, and nerve damage to her leg. Her father expressed profound relief that she survived, noting that surgeons described her pelvic injury as the most severe they had witnessed in a patient who lived.

Following the crash, where she was dragged by a car and crushed against equipment, the woman underwent three major surgeries. Her father, deeply moved by her resilience, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help fund essential home modifications, such as a wet room, and to support her long-term rehabilitation. The family acknowledges that her quality of life may be permanently altered, emphasizing the extensive period required for her to regain normal function.

She is currently in Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where her parents rushed to her side upon hearing the news. Initially informed of a broken leg, the true extent of her injuries became apparent only upon seeing her. Despite the shock, she has displayed remarkable mental strength, a trait her father is immensely proud of, though he acknowledges the ongoing process of acceptance for the family. Gwent Police confirmed the collision involved a pedestrian and a car and has been reported to the Health and Safety Executive.
