A 46-year-old woman was fatally injured in a road accident on the Thane-Bhiwandi Road in Maharashtra's Thane district. The incident occurred on the Thane-Bhiwandi Road in Rahanlal village when the scooter she was riding on skidded after hitting a deep, rainwater-filled pothole.
Sunita Akshaylal Pal was traveling with her husband when the scooter lost balance. While her husband sustained injuries, Sunita fell directly into the path of an oncoming truck, which ran her over, resulting in her death at the scene.
This tragedy has renewed concerns about the safety of roads in Bhiwandi, where numerous potholes filled with rainwater have become a significant hazard during the monsoon months. Relatives and local residents are demanding immediate road repairs and compensation for the victim's family.
Similar incidents have been reported recently, including an 11-year-old boy killed by a fallen tree in Mumbai and a couple injured in a bike crash in Gujarat due to a massive pothole.
