A tragic accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Gurgaon's Gairatpur Bas village, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old woman named Bhateri. She was standing by the roadside with family when a Maruti Swift, reportedly speeding and driven negligently, struck her before crashing into a neem tree. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Sameer Khan, was a resident of the same village and was found to possess only a learner's license.
Family members immediately transported Bhateri to Park Hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to multiple injuries. The driver also sustained injuries and is undergoing medical treatment. Police arrived at the scene, and the body was moved to the Gurgaon mortuary for post-mortem examination, which was deferred due to the late hour.
A case has been registered against Sameer Khan under relevant sections of the BNS concerning rash driving and causing death by negligence. This incident underscores concerns about road safety and the licensing of new drivers, particularly in high-traffic areas.
