Woman Seeking Golf Balls Found Dead in Pond

Tragedy struck on Sunday, June 28, when a 47-year-old woman, identified as Bette Reilly of Westbrook, was found deceased. She had been searching for golf balls in a pond located near 9 Pond View Drive in Scarborough, Maine.
Reilly was reported missing after being last seen near the pond's edge. She had been gone for approximately 20 minutes before emergency services were alerted to her disappearance. The Maine Warden Service Dive Team initiated a search.
During their efforts, the dive team located Reilly's body in about 9 feet of water, roughly 30 minutes after commencing their search. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of her death.
Authorities have stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Reilly's death is currently underway. Her brother described her as "the light in my soul."
