A 22-year-old woman, Hrishita Lahon from Assam, died on Monday morning following a collision involving an Uber Bike she was riding and a DTC bus. The incident occurred on the Ashram flyover in Southeast Delhi as she traveled towards Noida. The bus and its driver are currently unaccounted for, while the bike's driver, Darab Singh, was also injured.
Details of the accident emerged after a medico-legal case report from Jeewan Hospital was received by the Sunlight Colony police station. Lahon was initially in serious condition and transferred to Apollo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 2 pm. Her statement could not be recorded due to her critical condition. Police are actively searching for the bus and its driver and have registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning rash driving and causing death by negligence.
Investigators are working to establish the exact sequence of events. The injured bike driver, Darab Singh, was receiving further treatment in Haryana. Police teams have also searched the Ashram flyover area for eyewitnesses but have not yet located any. The body of the deceased was handed over to her family after a post-mortem examination at AIIMS.
