Tragic Sea Rescue Attempt Ends in Drowning Deaths

An inquest has officially opened into the tragic deaths of three people following a devastating sea incident in Withernsea on January 2nd. The proceedings are being conducted by Lorraine Harris, Area Coroner for Hull and East Yorkshire.
The incident tragically claimed the lives of Sarah Keeling, 45, her daughter Grace Keeling, 15, and 67-year-old Mark Ratcliffe. Mr. Ratcliffe entered the rough waters in a heroic attempt to save the mother and daughter after they were swept away by the sea.
Despite rescue efforts, Mark Ratcliffe was pulled unconscious from the water and pronounced dead at the scene. Sarah Keeling's body was found later on the same evening. As of the inquest opening, Grace Keeling was still missing, with search operations ongoing.
