A significant drone assault overnight on August 16, 2026, resulted in a massive fire at a Wildberries logistics facility in the Koledino area, approximately 45 km south of Moscow. The attack, characterized as one of the largest drone strikes on the region, also damaged another logistics facility in Domodedovo. At least six fatalities were reported across Russia due to the coordinated strikes.
Wildberries confirmed the fire at its Koledino logistics hub following the attack. The company stated that all employees were safely evacuated as per safety protocols. Operations have since been rerouted, with delivery acceptance and order dispatch now managed from alternative locations.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of drone attacks targeting Wildberries. Ukrainian authorities have alleged that the e-commerce giant's logistics centers are utilized for transporting military-related components, including drone parts. Russia has denied these claims.
The widespread drone activity saw Russian air defenses intercepting hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles. Over 822 drones were reportedly downed across the country, with over 600 directed toward the capital.
