A major landslide occurred in the Wayanad district of Kerala on Tuesday, raising concerns for several individuals feared trapped. The incident took place at Kalladi, near Meppadi, at the site of a tunnel road project connecting the Malappuram and Wayanad districts.
Local residents were able to rescue at least three people from the area where workers associated with the tunnel project were residing. Reports indicate that a few vehicles used to transport tunnel employees also sustained damage due to the landslide.
Emergency services have been mobilized, with police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel actively participating in the ongoing rescue operation. Minister T Siddique and the District Collector are coordinating the efforts to verify the number of people trapped.
