Water Park Owner Threatens to Drain Lake Over Trespassers
6 Mar
Summary
- Owner will drain lake if young people continue trespassing at night.
- New £30,000 fencing and CCTV have not deterred nighttime trespassers.
- Water temperature is eight degrees Celsius, posing a lethal eight-minute risk.

A Northern Ireland water park owner has issued a stark ultimatum: stop trespassing in the lake at night, or he will drain it.
Pete Boyle, owner of Let's Go Hydro in Carryduff, expressed deep concern over the safety of young people who are repeatedly climbing over new £30,000 fencing to swim in the lake after dark. He stated the responsibility for any potential drowning weighs heavily on him.
The trespassers have been entering the facility around 8 PM and leaving near midnight over the past three weekends. Boyle pointed out the severe danger, with water temperatures as low as eight degrees Celsius, posing a fatal risk within minutes.
Authorities, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland, are aware of the situation. Local politicians have urged young people to be sensible and parents to be vigilant about water safety, emphasizing that no immediate help is available at that hour if an accident occurs.
