VSR Ventures Faces Probe After Fatal Baramati Crash

A tragic Learjet crash at Baramati airport, resulting in the deaths of Maharashtra's deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and four others, has brought VSR Ventures Private Limited into the spotlight. The Delhi-based non-scheduled airline operator is now the subject of an intense civil aviation investigation and regulatory response, with many questions surrounding the accident remaining unanswered.
This is not the first aviation incident involving VSR Ventures. In September 2023, one of the company's Learjet 45XR aircraft experienced a runway excursion during landing at Mumbai airport amid adverse weather conditions. While all occupants survived with injuries in that instance, it led to regulatory scrutiny.
Captain Vijay Kumar Singh, head of VSR Ventures, stated that the company is actively investigating the cause of the Baramati crash, asserting that the aircraft was in excellent condition. Investigators from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the oversight of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), are examining flight data, cockpit voice recordings, and air traffic control communications. A thorough examination of the wreckage is expected to take weeks.
