Varanasi Airport Shooting: Two Injured in Accidental Gunfire

On Sunday morning, a routine firearm inspection at Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport led to injuries for two airport screeners. The incident occurred around 9:30 am when a passenger, Kamlesh Rai, was preparing to travel to Mumbai. During the process of checking the passenger's licensed weapon and counting its ammunition, a round was accidentally fired. This unexpected discharge struck two AAICLAS screeners, one in the leg and another in the thumb. Both injured individuals were promptly transported to the New Laxmi Trauma Centre for medical attention. Local police were notified, and senior officials visited the scene to initiate an investigation into the matter. Necessary legal actions are reportedly being pursued.
