A new, state-of-the-art fire station was inaugurated at Valpoi on Wednesday by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He highlighted the critical importance of physical fitness for firefighters to effectively perform their duties. The newly constructed complex is equipped with advanced operational infrastructure, including bays for water tenders, a rescue tender, ambulance, and motorcycle response units.
Beyond its core emergency response capabilities, the Valpoi fire station boasts recreational facilities such as table tennis, carom, and other indoor games, alongside a gymnasium and dormitories. A drill tower and a multipurpose hall for training sessions are also part of the complex, ensuring continuous skill development for the fire personnel.
Town and country planning minister Vishwajit Rane, present at the inauguration, noted the long wait for the taluka to receive a fire station. He also requested the Chief Minister to upgrade the administrative complex where the mamlatdar and deputy collector offices are currently located in an old structure.
