In Stourbridge, over a hundred firefighters tackled a large grass fire that spread to homes, leading to evacuations and declarations of a major incident. The extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 38C in Pershore, created tinder-dry conditions, allowing fires to spread rapidly. Experts cite urban vegetation and increased human activity as contributing factors to the surge in wildfires, with England and Wales recording 1,017 wildfires this year.
Other areas across England and Wales, including Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Wales, are also contending with large wildfires.
