27 Jun
Summary
- Two people were rescued after a microlight crash-landed near Cardigan Island.
- Rescuers found the individuals sitting on the wing of the aircraft at sea.
- Emergency services, including lifeboats and a helicopter, responded to the incident.

A microlight aircraft ditching in the sea off the Welsh coast led to a dramatic rescue mission on Friday evening. The incident occurred near Cardigan Island, an uninhabited nature reserve. Two individuals were on board the aircraft when it encountered difficulties and landed in Cardigan Bay around 6pm.
Coastguard rescue teams, along with RNLI lifeboats from New Quay and Cardigan, and a coastguard rescue helicopter, were dispatched to the scene. They located the two people sitting on the wing of the downed microlight.
The rescued individuals were brought ashore by a lifeboat and received by the Welsh Ambulance Service. While details of injuries have not been released, it is believed they were not seriously harmed. This incident follows a separate fatal light aircraft crash in Devon earlier the same day.
