A devastating road accident on the national highway near Govindpet bridge in Armoor mandal, Nizamabad, resulted in the deaths of two women pilgrims and serious injuries to two others. The incident happened on Thursday when a truck, reportedly speeding, collided with a stationary tourist bus that had stopped due to a tyre puncture.
The victims, identified as Sujatha, 54, and Madhavi, 47, were among a group of pilgrims from Kinwat, Maharashtra, traveling to Hyderabad. Following the tyre issue, some passengers were seated on the median while awaiting repairs. The truck's impact pushed the bus onto the median, causing fatal injuries to Sujatha and Madhavi.
Sunitha and Chitakka, who sustained serious injuries, were promptly transferred to a government hospital for treatment. Nizamabad police commissioner Sai Chaitanya visited the site and ordered a thorough investigation into the truck driver's alleged negligence. Traffic was temporarily disrupted, and authorities are working to manage vehicular movement while continuing their inquiry into the circumstances of the crash.
