Fog Blinds Trucker: Two Youths Dead on Highway

Tragedy struck on the Bareilly-Pilibhit highway late Saturday night as a speeding truck, obscured by dense fog, collided with a motorcycle. Two youths, identified as Prempal (31) and Sunil Kumar (17) from Pilibhit district, lost their lives in the collision. They were returning to their village after completing their work.
The accident occurred near Sithra village under the Hafizganj police station. The third occupant of the motorcycle, Gopal (18), sustained critical injuries and was initially taken to a community health centre. He was later referred to the district hospital and subsequently moved to a private medical facility, where his condition remains critical.
Authorities reported that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. A search operation is underway, with police actively scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify and apprehend the driver and trace the vehicle. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination and were handed over to their families on Sunday.
