Tragic Truck Collision Claims Two Lives on NH-31

On Monday, a devastating accident occurred on NH-31 in the Khagaria district when a speeding truck rear-ended a van carrying approximately 15-16 passengers.
The van was traveling towards the Katyayani temple for a religious visit when the collision took place. Two passengers were tragically thrown from the van onto the road and subsequently run over by the truck, which failed to stop.
The victims were identified as Dheeraj Kumar, 22, and Sanjeev Kumar, 33, both residents of Begusarai district. Mufassil police have begun an investigation, with initial findings suggesting over-speeding and negligent driving.
In response to the fatalities, local villagers expressed their outrage by blocking NH-31 for several hours, causing substantial traffic jams. Officials from Khagaria and the Mufassil police station successfully negotiated with the protesters, assuring swift action and leading to the clearing of the highway. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
