Seven family members dead after Turkey minibus crash

A minibus carrying 18 passengers veered off the road and overturned into a ditch on August 15, 2026, in the Lice district of Turkey. The vehicle was traveling from Diyarbakır to Muş for an engagement ceremony.

Tragically, seven family members were killed in the crash. Two victims died at the scene, while five others succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Nine additional passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to medical facilities for treatment. The Diyarbakır Governorship confirmed the incident and stated that a thorough investigation into the cause has been initiated.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the minibus after a tire burst, causing it to overturn and roll down an embankment. The deceased have been identified as five siblings and their two young nephews. Authorities are closely monitoring the injured and offering condolences to the bereaved families.
