California Driver Slams Into Shoppers at Safeway Entrance

In Truckee, California, a vehicle deliberately struck pedestrians at the entrance of a Safeway store on Saturday afternoon. Four individuals, among them children, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
The 49-year-old driver, identified as being from Coalinga, is believed by police to have intentionally targeted both the shoppers and the store. Witness accounts describe the driver as remaining calm in his vehicle after the impact until authorities arrived and took him into custody.
Mathewson, a shopper who assisted after the incident, recounted hearing screams and immediately helping to check for trapped individuals. He noted that a youth baseball team was fundraising nearby at the time of the attack. The driver was subsequently booked on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
