Panic on Rails: Family Lost in Train Jump Tragedy

Tragedy struck the Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, when a false fire alarm sent passengers into a panic. In the ensuing chaos, several individuals jumped off the moving train. Tragically, four passengers, including a woman, her four-year-old son, and two other women, were killed when they were struck by the Patalkot Express traveling on the adjacent track.

The distraught father, Nadeem Khan, recounted the horrific experience, stating that the panic spread so rapidly that his wife and son were gone before he could comprehend. He described the scene of disarray on the tracks, with belongings scattered and people screaming. The incident occurred shortly after the train crossed Morena, near Pipri Ka Pura village, when a rumor of fire caused passengers to pull the emergency chain.

Officials are investigating the incident, with preliminary inquiries indicating no actual fire was present. It appears a spark or smoke from a coach near the locomotive triggered the false alarm. The loco pilot of the Patalkot Express reportedly could not spot the passengers on the tracks in time due to the train's speed and a curve. An investigation is underway to ascertain who pulled the emergency chain, leading to the fatal chain of events.
