All train lines connecting Wolverhampton, Stafford, and Shrewsbury were affected, with no services running in either direction. Multiple rail operators, including Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, Transport for Wales, and West Midlands Railway, reported disruptions.
Rail replacement buses were implemented on various routes, including between Telford and Wolverhampton, and between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. National Rail indicated that services between Wolverhampton and Telford Central were also halted.
West Midlands Railway stated that repairs to the damaged infrastructure might extend until Thursday. Customers were advised to use alternative services with their existing tickets.
