A devastating accident occurred in northern Germany on Sunday when strong winds caused a large, 30-meter tree to fall during an Easter egg hunt. The incident tragically claimed the lives of three people, including a 10-month-old baby girl.
The event, held near Satrupholm, was attended by approximately 50 individuals from a residential facility that supports new mothers, pregnant women, and children. The tree collapsed around 11 am, trapping four people beneath its trunk.
A 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene. The infant daughter of the 21-year-old woman later passed away from her injuries in the hospital. An 18-year-old woman suffered severe injuries and was airlifted for medical treatment.
Grief counselors were dispatched to the site, which was part of the state-funded child welfare system. The German weather service had previously issued a high-winds warning for the region, underscoring the dangerous conditions.
