28 Sep, 2025
Summary
- 8-year-old TV actor and 16-year-old brother die in Kota fire
- Siblings alone at home when blaze erupted around 2 am
- Short circuit suspected as cause, children likely succumbed to smoke

On the early morning of September 27th, 2025, a devastating fire claimed the lives of two young siblings in Kota, Rajasthan. Veer Sharma, an 8-year-old television actor known for his role in the popular show "Shrimad Ramayan," and his 16-year-old brother Shoriya Sharma, an aspiring engineer, perished in the blaze that broke out in their home around 2 am.
According to the police, the children were alone at the time, as their father, Jitendra Sharma, a coaching center teacher, was attending a bhajan event, while their mother, actress Rita Sharma, was in Mumbai. Neighbors, noticing smoke billowing from the flat, broke open the door and found the siblings unconscious. They immediately alerted the father and rushed the boys to the hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.
Investigators suspect a short circuit as the likely cause of the fire, which was confined to the drawing room. The flames did not spread to other rooms, and the children most likely succumbed to smoke inhalation. The drawing room was completely charred, with the furniture reduced to ashes.
Following the family's wishes, the children's eyes were donated to an eye bank. An FIR has been registered, and the police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire and the deaths.
